Award for Professor Dr. Darina Zinovieva
Professor Dr. Darina Zinovieva from the Institute of State and Law at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was awarded by the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) on the occasion of the celebration of 25 years since its restoration.
Experts who have contributed to the development of administrative justice in Bulgaria over the last quarter of a century were honoured at the ceremony. The award for Professor Darina Zinovieva was given for her great contribution in the field of professional training and raising the qualification of judges and judicial assistants in the field of administrative justice.
Together with Professor Darina Zinovieva, Prof. Dr. Sasho Penov, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Kostov, Prof. Dr. Raina Nikolova, Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Sivkov, Prof. Dr. Emilia Panayotova and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evelina Dimitrova were honoured, as well as the National Institute of Justice and the Faculty of Law of Sofia University. Kliment Ohridski. A posthumous award was given to Prof. Dr. Doncho Hrusanov, who passed away this year.
The Supreme Judges unanimously decided to establish an award for contribution to the development of administrative law, which will be named after Prof. Dr. Kino Lazarov and will be awarded every three years.
The jubilee marked the restoration of the Supreme Administrative Court, which was established in 1913 but was closed down by the Socialist government in 1947. After the democratic changes, it took a full six years before the court was operational again from 1 December 1996.
