Departments

The Department of Public law elaborates on theoretical and methodological matters about the legal theory and history, the Bulgarian state and law, the constitutional, administrative, financial and tax law and sociology of law.

The Department of Civil Law studies matters of the civil law - gneral part, contractual relationships, property law, intellectual rights law, companies governed by the comercial law, trade law, family law, legal protection of the consumers, etc.

The Department of Criminal Law brings together a young and united team of researchers in the field of criminal law and criminal procedure. They work on topical and fundamental issues related to the criminal policy of the Republic of Bulgaria, the improvement of the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, the transposition and implementation of the EU criminal law. The department or its members provide expert opinions, including on draft legislation. The senior scholars supervise doctoral theses in criminal procedure. Their teaching and research experience, as well as the positive and collаborative environment, allow the PhD students to develop their full potential and successfully complete and defend their dissertations.

The main research areas of the Department of International Law are international public law and international private law, rule of law and human rights in international law, fight against international terrorism, harmonisation of Bulgarian law with the EU law.
