Additional admission of doctoral students for the 2024–2025 academic year

The Institute for the State and the Law at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences announces admission of full-time and part-time doctoral students for the 2024 – 2025 academic year in accordance with Decision No. 478 of the Council of Ministers of 04.07.2024

• Administrative Law and Administrative Procedure 1 place – full-time study
• Administrative Law and Administrative Procedure 1 place – part-time study
• Civil and Family Law 1 place – part-time study
• Civil Procedure 1 place – part-time study
• Legal Sociology. Legal Informatics 1 place – full-time study
• Business / Commercial Law 1 place – part-time study
• Labour Law and Social Security 1 place – full-time study

Documents required for application:

1. An application addressed to the Director of the Institute for the State and the Law (the ISL template may also be used) – stating the doctoral programme, the form of study and the foreign language in which the applicant will sit the second competition examination; (Download the template HERE)

2. A curriculum vitae;

3. A diploma for the educational and qualification degree of “Master” in the specialty “Law” for the doctoral programmes in “Law”, and “Master” for the doctoral programme “International Law and International Relations”, with its supplement (a notarised copy of the diploma and the supplement) or a certificate from the higher education institution confirming completed education, with an overall grade on the diploma / certificate of no less than Very Good 4.50;

4. A certificate of recognition of higher education, if the diploma has been issued by a foreign higher education institution;

5. A medical certificate;

6. A certificate of criminal record;

7. A list of publications (if any);

8. A document certifying payment of a fee of BGN 40 (forty leva) to the Training Centre of the BAS (Sofia, 125 Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd, 26B, floor 2, tel. 02/987 3167, 0882 712466);

9. A document certifying payment by bank transfer of a fee of BGN 40 (forty leva) to the ISL at the BAS:

11. Other documents at the applicant’s discretion, without notarial certification.

Within two months from 04.03.2025 applicants are to submit an application for participation in the competition addressed to the Director of the Institute for the State and the Law – 4 Serdika Str., floor 3, Sofia.

All applicants will be notified in writing of their admission (or of the refusal to admit them to the competition and the reasons for it) by 09.05.2025.

The examinations will be held: in the specialty from 09 to 13.06.2025 at the Institute for the State and the Law (4 Serdika Str., Sofia), and in foreign languages from 16 to 20.06.2025 at the Training Centre of the BAS.

Candidates who have passed the competition examinations successfully are those who have received a grade from the examination in the specialty (written and oral) of at least Very Good 5.00 and a grade in a Western language of no less than Good 4.00.
