Book presentation and discussion
Dear colleagues,
The Institute for the State and the Law at the BAS is a co-organiser of the presentation of the book "Family Relations in a Changing World" and of a discussion on the issues it raises.
The book offers a multidisciplinary analysis of issues traditionally treated as matters of family law. It includes interpretations of family law relations and family justice from the perspective of constitutional, labour and European law, as well as of economic and sociological analysis.
One of the main focuses of the book is the regulation of relations between parents and children. It presents a position in the Bulgarian discussion on the rights of mothers or fathers and the interests of the child upon the dissolution of marriage. The position of the legislator and of judicial practice on resolving disputes between parents is critically examined. Ideas are also presented for changes both in family legislation and in its interpretation, in the context of contemporary trends in the behaviour of family members and in the interests of children.
The book publishes articles that offer classical and bold interpretations of marriage and cohabitation without marriage. The contributors to the collection are university lecturers, practising lawyers and students from Bulgaria, Poland, the Netherlands and Spain, as well as economists and sociologists.
The presentation of the book and the discussion of the issues raised in it will take place on 28 October 2014 (Tuesday) at 14:00 in the Conference Hall of the Supreme Court of Cassation. We look forward to seeing you!
